Hot Holiday Meals Delivered Christmas Morning by Team Totally and Friends.

Way before dawn and Santa’s return home,  tucked quietly behind, or sort of inside Pike Place Market is the Pike Market Senior Center where a group of cooks prepared turkey, ham  and all the fixins for several hundred holiday meals.

As our team of six, plus Baby Santa ran the bagged meal boxes out to fill up two car loads, the assembly line of volunteers prepared more meals as fast as they could.

First stop was the Josephinum Building where resident Michael Ghebre greeted Betsy and Baby Santa while the rest of our team unloaded hot meals for folks on fourteen floors.

Upon reaching the eighth floor, we noticed smoke billowing out from under a resident’s door and heard the sound of a smoke alarm. Without pause 911 was called and before we knew it the firemen were on the scene. Betsy and Baby Santa evacuated the building to observe a shining red fire engine.

This Fireman informed us that someone had fallen fast asleep with something cooking (burning) on their stove. Luckily it was a happy ending and no injuries.

So, our hot meal deliveries continued minus an elevator for the remaining six flights of marble stairs at the once New Washington Hotel which is now on the National Register of Historic Places, ID #89001607.

Next stop is Olive Ridge where Team Totally delivered Christmas dinners for home bound folks on all of the eight floors.  And yay, there was a working elevator. Mission accomplished and we were off  to celebrate Christmas with family and friends knowing that we may have spread a little holiday cheer to those spending Christmas alone.

Wishing All Of You A Very Merry Christmas And God Bless Us,  Everyone!
