Monster Bowling

Only 54 days until spring if I am counting correctly. We seem to be experiencing endless days trapped indoors escaping the bitter cold generously provided by Old Man Winter. Thanks mister.

Monsters to the rescue….

Our Monster Bowling will bring a warm fuzzy feeling to indoor play.

Monster Sandwiches

After working up an appetite from bowling, it’s time for Monster Sandwiches. Caroline at Chocolate and Carrots featured these frightfully delicious sandwiches at Halloween, but we are adding them to Monsters to the Rescue.

monster brownies

Miserably cold Minnesota winters must have some chocolate, and in the form of Monster Brownies today would be most fitting.

Monster clips

While in a monster mood, Mr. Printables has the 123 for making colorful  Monster Bites utilizing wooden clothes pins.

Monster Puppets at Totally Kids

If you haven’t gotten your fill of Monsters by now, why not try your hand at making your very own loveable one? (for 3 years and older)

Any other monstrously fun boredom buster ideas to share? Please send them on over,  we would love to include you in a post.

Camper Bed

Funny how we always seem to stumble upon new, way cool beds as we travel the globe searching for kids furniture.  Brazil is our source mainly for the basic bunk beds that we supply to summer camps, similar to this one below. Not where we would normally source fun theme beds. Our driver Paulo took us on a detour where we were introduced in this amazing camper or caravan bed that is not even produced in Brazil. He knew we “just needed to see it.” He was correct. What a find!

Now we must contact the designer and learn if the camper is available to the U.S. and if it will pass the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Camper Bed ready to go

When the time comes, this camper bed is complete with a trailer hitch, so ready to roll.

Peek inside

Take a peek inside. Let us know what do you think?

As we were going places in Brazil the only word in Portuguese that I was able to take away was: obrigado. One great big “obrigado” (thank you) to Paulo for making sure we did not miss the camper bed.

wall map

Next week we’re heading south of the equator to South American markets. We’ll be on a quest for new and exciting furniture, toys and accessories for Totally Kids.

During our planning sessions, the old eyes were strained looking at maps with teeny tiny print. Knowing there had to be larger scale maps, look what was discovered; maps not requiring “readers”.  A sight for sore eyes!

LARGE WALL MAP

There are actually many “no readers needed”  LARGE maps that will add character and a punch to any decor.  What a clever solution for covering large blank walls.

Perk up with purple accents.  Lindsey, we need to think about this for the break room!

Can you see this map in a tween pinkie pink room?

How about some inspiration for international cooking?

Snow Day

Snow Day – No, COLD Day

The National Weather Service is predicting that most of the state of Minnesota will experience the coldest temperatures in a decade with lows reaching -30 degrees Fahrenheit and wind chills predicted to reach as low as -50 degrees Fahrenheit.

To protect Minnesota schoolchildren from forecasted dangerously cold weather, Governor Mark Dayton announced that all of the state’s K-12 public schools will be closed Monday, January 6th.

“The safety of Minnesota’s schoolchildren must be our first priority,” said Governor Dayton. “I have made this decision to protect all our children from the dangerously cold temperatures now forecasted for next Monday. I encourage Minnesotans of all ages to exercise caution in these extreme weather conditions.”

Some of us recall our much loved snow days, but this day off with extreme wind and cold should not allow fun in the snow.  Do you have entertaining activities planned for your kids? If you are feeling lost when it comes to ideas, hop on over to the Artful Parent for 89 Indoor Activities to Keep Your Kids Entertained this Winter.

Stay warm and enjoy the day!

From all of us at Totally Kids fun furniture and toys,

we wish all of our friends near and far away a healthy and happy new year!

Happy New Year 2014
