Surprise Princess! Who will be next?

This sweet young lady was a surprise princess. Her family was shopping for new furniture when our princess spotter awarded her with a $25.00 Totally Kids fun furniture & toys Gift Card and a crown to wear during her visit with us.

She chose to sit on the pink convertible studio click clack for her royal picture.

When you visit us there are not only contests, fun games and prizes but sometimes surprises.

Deviled Eggs, always! But for Halloween? Try laying (out) some special Spider Eggs. You can double dare your friends to eat a few Spider Eggs, this week’s Recipe for Fun. You’ll find it another easy peasy fun cook together with the kiddos.

Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon (3 oz.)
  • 8 hard-cooked large eggs
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

1. In an 8- to 10-inch frying pan over medium-high heat, cook bacon, turning slices as needed, until browned on both sides and crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain. When cool enough to handle, crumble bacon.
2. Cut each egg in half lengthwise; gently scoop out yolks and place in a bowl. Mash yolks with a fork, then stir in mayonnaise, green onions, mustard, and crumbled bacon until well blended. Add salt and pepper to taste.
3. Spoon about 1 tablespoon yolk mixture into the hollow of each egg-white half. Serve immediately or cover and chill up to 4 hours.

Use this as a great way of teaching your kids how to lay (out) spider eggs. It could become a Halloween tradition at your house too.

You fill in the blanks!

The possibilities are endless for what you can frame on your walls with this wallpaper aptly named “Frames”.

Go right ahead, put a photo, drawing, hang your blue ribbons,  paste on a little bling or use your creative skills and attempt to paint something in one of the frames. It’s simply up to you! You’ll love how interactive it is.

“Frames”  by Taylor & Wood for Graham & Brown  is only $50 per roll, so you’ll still have some cash left over for markers and paints.

What do you think? You’re Framed?

Wordless Wednesday

Can you find what’s wrong with this picture?

Absolutely Nothing!

Totally Kids fun furniture & toys has both doll furniture and kids furniture built to withstand the rigors of pre-school all the way to college.

Heirloom quality doll furniture that can be handed down from generation to generation is a great choice.

So, get that big man off of the doll’s bed and let the little girl play. There are many big & tall man beds available too.

Copying their parents and other people around them from an early age with pretend play helps children develop their expressive, imaginative, social and language skills.

Dolls are important to children at each stage of their development:

0–18 months +: As babies begin to investigate their new world of shapes and textures and develops essential skills, they need a snuggly security companion.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

18 months +: As babies transition to the toddler years they begin to imitate their parents and take care of the “baby” (doll) the way parents do.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

2/3 years +: At this age they begin to act out many real-life situations with their dolls. They may become big sister, big brother, father, mother or babysitter. Baby dolls encourage nurturing play and inspire memories to cherish forever.

By playing with dolls, both boys and girls will enhance their fine motor skills, as well as their cognitive ability. While creating new scenarios, children get more creative. Their imaginary boundaries will start to expand. The more they play, the more their cognitive faculties will begin to grow and blossom.

Training Dresser

What do you think about a training dresser?

The drawers are cleverly shaped like the appropriate clothing items. Even your youngest helper should be able to find the sock drawer.

It comes in two gender specific designs made from all kid-friendly components that are  hand crafted and packaged with care in Eastern Washington by the crew Mountain View Cabinetry.

Hats off, well shorts, shirts, socks and pants to designer Peter Bristol.

Girl's Training Dresser

Dresser drawers shaped like clothesNow here is a brilliant concept for you.

The Minimalist  Mom suggests “STOP FOLDING LAUNDRY!” She says “with many loads of laundry washed every day, not folding t-shirts, jeans and underwear saved her hours a week.” With that concept and this dresser, children could be given freshly washed laundry that was never folded but  just sorted  right  into the drawers.

What do you think about that?

Elf on the Shelf girl

Do you Elf on the Shelf?

Only a few days left until those creative, fun loving little elves make their annual appearances everywhere.

If you don’t elf yet, think about bringing one into your home. You could quickly fill your own picture album full of their crazy shenanigans. Some folks find the presence of an elf in their home a beneficial behavior modification for their young ones.

Behind the Tradition:

This classic tradition began when Santa Claus wanted to keep better track of the naughty and nice list. His idea was to have scout elves sent to adoption centers to sleep until families read the story together, gave the elf an individual name and adopted the elf on the web. Families can grant any name they want, but the name is required in order for the Christmas magic to be bestowed upon the elf. It’s like welcoming a new member of the family!
Once the elf arrives at a family’s home, he or she watches to see who is being good and who is being bad. In order for the elf to do the job efficiently, he or she hides in different spots of the house each day! The elf then travels to the North Pole when the family is asleep to give a daily report to
Santa. These daily reports help keep the naughty and nice list as accurate as possible before each Christmas Eve.
It’s important to not touch your elf, or else the magic will be lost.

Please share photos of your elf’s crazy shenanigans on our Facebook page.

Day One: High Point Fall Furniture Market.

White House Bunk Beds

Where to begin? There were so many great new finds on our first day at market. Here is a bunk bed we call the White House Bunk.

Scribbles Bunk BedsWith this bunk bed, budding artists are able to create works of art right on the ends of their bed.  Notice the conveniently placed pen holders along the top rail of the bottom bunk. You can also post messages, homework or other masterpieces on the magnetic whiteboard.

Purple Bling

Here is a soothing lavender suite in a velvety fabric with a touch of bling.

Corner Bed

Stuck in a corner with faux leather might be alright for the night.

Zippa-bed

Winner of the day was the Zip-a-Bed combo cover.

Every day parents ask us “how do you make a bunk bed?” Finally we have found an excellent answer.  Now there is an all in one system (sort of like sheets and bed cover built together) with an easy-zip side closure that not only makes it easy to get your bunk bed looking neat and tidy, but does so in a snap. This versatile design zips open at both the head and foot of bed. They will be available in a wide selection of soft and cuddly fabrics. The 100% brushed polyester microfiber makes the Zip-a-Bed easy care; machine washable and will tumble dry with minimal wrinkling. Innovative construction, sewn corners and under-bed straps secure the Zip-a-Bed to the mattress without smashing your hands in the side rails. Soon available in either twin or full size.

Moonshine for sore feet

The Phillips Collection offered an end of day elixir for sore feet – Moonshine for tired dogs! Luckily my dogs walked the day away in ugly clogs. So, no sore feet, and being not brave of heart, I passed on this opportunity. But tell me please, is there Moonshine sold in Minnesota, or just not a Yankee thing?
