Day One: High Point Fall Furniture Market.

White House Bunk Beds

Where to begin? There were so many great new finds on our first day at market. Here is a bunk bed we call the White House Bunk.

Scribbles Bunk BedsWith this bunk bed, budding artists are able to create works of art right on the ends of their bed.  Notice the conveniently placed pen holders along the top rail of the bottom bunk. You can also post messages, homework or other masterpieces on the magnetic whiteboard.

Purple Bling

Here is a soothing lavender suite in a velvety fabric with a touch of bling.

Corner Bed

Stuck in a corner with faux leather might be alright for the night.

Zippa-bed

Winner of the day was the Zip-a-Bed combo cover.

Every day parents ask us “how do you make a bunk bed?” Finally we have found an excellent answer.  Now there is an all in one system (sort of like sheets and bed cover built together) with an easy-zip side closure that not only makes it easy to get your bunk bed looking neat and tidy, but does so in a snap. This versatile design zips open at both the head and foot of bed. They will be available in a wide selection of soft and cuddly fabrics. The 100% brushed polyester microfiber makes the Zip-a-Bed easy care; machine washable and will tumble dry with minimal wrinkling. Innovative construction, sewn corners and under-bed straps secure the Zip-a-Bed to the mattress without smashing your hands in the side rails. Soon available in either twin or full size.

Moonshine for sore feet

The Phillips Collection offered an end of day elixir for sore feet – Moonshine for tired dogs! Luckily my dogs walked the day away in ugly clogs. So, no sore feet, and being not brave of heart, I passed on this opportunity. But tell me please, is there Moonshine sold in Minnesota, or just not a Yankee thing?

Camper Bed

Funny how we always seem to stumble upon new, way cool beds as we travel the globe searching for kids furniture.  Brazil is our source mainly for the basic bunk beds that we supply to summer camps, similar to this one below. Not where we would normally source fun theme beds. Our driver Paulo took us on a detour where we were introduced in this amazing camper or caravan bed that is not even produced in Brazil. He knew we “just needed to see it.” He was correct. What a find!

Brazilian Bunks at Totally Kids

Now we must contact the designer and learn if the camper is available to the U.S. and if it will pass the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Camper Bed ready to go

When the time comes, this camper bed is complete with a trailer hitch, so ready to roll.

Peek inside

Take a peek inside. Let us know what do you think?

As we were going places in Brazil the only word in Portuguese that I was able to take away was: obrigado. One great big “obrigado” (thank you) to Paulo for making sure we did not miss the camper bed.

And it’s Greek for you!

This week we’ve been searching Athens for the latest and greatest beds for kids.  Tell us what you think of these.  Should we bring them to America?

Greek Goddess Bed

For the littlest Greek Goddess, a modular system and in the world’s most popular colors for girls.

Greek Green Student Loft

Stylish with bold greens and yellows for the student.

Greek Car Bed

This sweet little race car bed with a canopy would be great for boys and girls.

Greek Day Bed

It’s a jungle out there!  Take refuge in this canopied day bed for a good nights slumber.

Greek Treehouse

Live the high life in your very own treehouse.

Looks like this week there has been a lot of talk about that Tontitown, Arkansas super sized family’s news.

Michelle Duggar announced that she and husband Jim Bob were expecting their 20th child in April 2012.

You may be surprised, but I am not at all. When you have nineteen children with names all beginning with the letter J, it is their alphabetic duty to carry on.

This week, Shauna added the Cass County Bunks for Three to our enormous collection of bunk beds. We posed a math challenge on our Facebook page asking how many of these beds the Duggar family would potentially need. What is your guess? (grandchildren?)

While we are playing guessing games, how much Chex Mix would the Duggars need?

Certainly all of their meals must be planned out well in advance. There must be an art to it. This is a slow cooker make ahead recipe that could be helpful.

Slow Cooker Chex Mix

1 cup Corn Chex
1 1/2 cups Rice Chex
1 cup Wheat Chex
1/2 cup peanuts
1/2 cup pretzel stick
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion salt

Combine first 5 ingredients in your slow cooker. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over cereal mixture; toss to coat. Cook on medium, uncovered, for 2 hours Stir mixture well every 30 minutes. Turn slow cooker to LOW and cook for 2-4 hours. Store in air tight container. Makes 5 cups.

Higgins, our Shop Dog took us to a fantastic networking event hosted by Sidewalk Dog and the Uptown Apple Store tonight.

Nummy Nibblies were provided for people by Lucia’s Restaurant. The pooches were not forgotten and enjoyed their own special treats.

Higgins was in her glory sniffing and hanging with at least 30 other shop dogs of all sizes and breeds. We were pleased to make many new acquaintances of both human and canines.

When your dog or horse is in need of a massage, who ya gonna call? Give  Jennifer Gibson of Bits of Love Pet Massage a jingle.

Higgins was tail waggin’ pleased to meet another Black and Tan Cavalier and Blenheim family who specialize in DoggyFroYo frozen yogurt treats. (you’ll see their pictures featured on their website)

Sarah Beth of  Sara Beth Photography was set up for a doggy photo shoot for all interested  top dogs. Not only does Sarah Beth capture unique pictures in her studio or on location, but offers a Joy Session for elderly and terminally ill dogs.

Another shop dog, the beautiful Roxy, from Bubbly Paws was a walking advertisement for her owner’s business. Higgins appeared to take note of Roxy’s impeccable grooming, the obvious benefits of her dog grooming and spa facility.

Remember, Higgins welcomes all her canine buddies to visit Totally Kids fun furniture & toys with their people. There is always a  cup of hot coffee and cookies waiting for the humans and doggie treats for Higgins friends. Woof!
