Melting Snowmen

The Snowmen in our yards have overstayed their welcome. Finally we are losing some of the snow that has remained with us way too long in this never ending winter.  Even though we saw snow showers off and on this week, the Snowmen around town are melting away.  It is about time for April Showers to help bring in the May Flowers.

So, this week’s Recipe for Fun is Melting Snowmen Cookies from Home is Where the Boat Is.

Snowmen ingredients

Pop on over to Home is Where the Boat Is where Mary has the recipe for making these cute Melting Snowmen Cookies, a fun cook together with the kiddos.

Deviled Eggs, always for Halloween, but this year we’re egging you on to eat spider eggs. Spider eggs are high protein and may be a great way to creep out some friends.

Ingredients

  • 3 slices bacon (3 oz.)
  • 8 hard-cooked large eggs
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

1. In an 8- to 10-inch frying pan over medium-high heat, cook bacon, turning slices as needed, until browned on both sides and crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain. When cool enough to handle, crumble bacon.
2. Cut each egg in half lengthwise; gently scoop out yolks and place in a bowl. Mash yolks with a fork, then stir in mayonnaise, green onions, mustard, and crumbled bacon until well blended. Add salt and pepper to taste.
3. Spoon about 1 tablespoon yolk mixture into the hollow of each egg-white half. Serve immediately or cover and chill up to 4 hours.

Don’t you agree this is a super timely recipe for fun?

Dog Days

This week’s Recipe for Fun features a dog in a dog. The idea is simple and is a fun cook together with young children. You simply bake a hot dog inside a dog shaped portion of dough.

If you’re kinda feeling the Dog Days of Summer, give this a try. Watch the instructions on video that walks you through the recipe.

Dog Biscuits

And…please do not forget your pooch.  Kids will have a grand time preparing these biscuits for their favorite dogs.  Gather round and watch this how to do it video put on by kids having fun at Highlights.

Woof, woof!  Higgins, the Totally Kids Shop Dog approved.
